Homeopathy is ideal for pregnancy.
Homeopathic medicines cannot cause side effects because only a small
amount of the active ingredient is used in the preparation. Morning
sickness, heartburn, ligament pains, varicose veins, cramp, are
a few of the complaints during pregnancy in which homeopathy can
be used to great effect. By stimulating the vitality of a pregnant
woman, homeopathic treatment should automatically benefit her baby.
During the birth homeopathic remedies
can be used to he lp
with problems that may occur, such as cervix which is slow to dilate,
pain, excessive bleeding, retained placenta and other difficulties.
These need to be prescribed by an experienced homeopath. Often the
homeopath is present at childbirth especially if it is a home birth.
Many women consider having a DOULA
even if they are contemplating a hospital birth. Doulas can help
women by giving them emotional, physical and practical support during
the birthing period. They are not midwives. To know more log on
to www.doula.org.uk.
The place of birth is often a dilemma
for the first time parents and the website www.birthchoiceuk.com
provides useful information. In Kingston there is a wonderful Active
Birth and Ante Natal yoga teacher called Ruth Armes to know more
about Active Birth log on to her site www.rutharmes.com
If you are contemplating a home birth
then www.homebirth.org.uk
is a very useful site with excellent links.
If you live in the Hampton Hill area
there is a long running Home Birth Support Group run by Marie, who
has participated at many births in her role as a Doula and has an
enormous amount of knowledge at her finger tips. Marie can be contacted
on 020 8255 1206. The group meet every 1st Friday
of the month.
Often parents will be keen to have
continuity throughout the pregnancy and birth which is not often
offered on the NHS and an Independent Midwife will offer that service.

Breastfeeding is not always straightforward
and cracked nipples, repeated mastitis and baby not latching on
properly can cause some mothers to stop. Homeopathy can bring in
many cases instant relief for the above ailments and will restore
the mother’s confidence in the early days of feeding.
The local NCT group will always
have a breast councillor and in my experience and those of mothers
I treat they canmake be a vital difference in to continue or not
breast feeding when times are difficult. www.babycentre.co.uk
offers useful links to sites on breastfeeding including the NCT
network.
Babies
tend to respond quickly to homeopathic treatment. Remedies for colic,
weepy eye, projectile vomiting, and problems with breast-feeding
are easily administered either in liquid form or crushing pills
between two spoons.
At all times an experienced professional homeopath
must be consulted. Medical assistance should always be sought if
symptoms persist.
If you wish to order a homeopathic birth kit or
first aid kit please send
me an e-mail.
